The Goddess Conference is organized by:
ASSOCIAÇÃO CULTURAL JARDIM DAS HESPÉRIDES
NIPC 514575581, created in September 2017
This Association is founded with the following purpose:
- Claim and rescue the ancient spiritual dimension of this territory called the Garden of the Hesperides;
- Recover historical and prehistoric knowledge, native or relevant in the national territory, of female divinities, the Goddess, as well as the cults and cultures associated with them, namely ancient cultures oriented towards partnership, or gilania*;
- Disseminate studies and discoveries about the ancient cult of the female divinity in our territory and facilitate access to such knowledge by Portuguese and international society;
- Establish a reference point (virtual and physical) for the transmission of this knowledge and for the meeting in Sacred and Ceremonial Space;
- Develop gender awareness and its implications at the level of social organization, defending and promoting equality in dignity and rights between women and men, namely through the visualization of a model of the Divine Feminine that has been denied for more than three thousand years;
- Deconstruct patriarchal thought models that dominate today's human society, paving the way for the conception of new cultural, political, social, educational and spiritual paradigms, favoring the return to the values of a gylanic society, more just and ecological, contributing to peace and sustainability;
- Promote, defend and work for the respect and preservation of Nature as a physical manifestation of divinity;
- Promote, defend and work for respect for multiculturalism, as an example of human biodiversity, working with goddesses of all cultures across time and space;
- Recognize Paganism, a religion centered on Nature, as the oldest religious practice in this territory and claim its status as a religion alongside other legally recognized religions;
- Recognize and recover ancient sacred places in this territory and the right to use them for religious purposes, as was the case in the past, as long as this does not pose any risk to their physical integrity and good preservation conditions;
- Develop knowledge of ancient spiritual instruments, rituals and traditions, which are part of humanity's cultural heritage, and contribute to the practice of holistic spirituality;
- Hold national and international events that contribute to achieving the aforementioned objectives.
* The concept of "gilania" is presented and explained by sociologist Riane Eisler in the work "The Chalice and the Sword" as follows:
“As a more accurate term than “patriarchy” to describe a social system ruled by men through force or the threat of force, I propose the term “androcracy.” Already in some use, this term derives from the Greek roots “andros,” or “man,” and “kratos” (as in democratic), or “ruled.” To describe the real alternative to a system based on the ranking of one half of humanity above the other, I propose the term “gilania.” “Gi” derives from the Greek root “gyne,” or “woman.” “Na” derives from “andros,” or “man.” The letter “l” between the two has a double meaning. In English, it represents the linking (in the original English “linking”) of both halves of humanity, rather than, as in “androcracy,” their ranking. In Greek, it derives from the verb “lyein” or “lyo,” which in turn has a double meaning: “to resolve” or “resolve” (as in “analysis”) and “to dissolve” or “liberate” (as in “dissolve”). "catalysis"). In this sense, the letter "l" represents the resolution of our problems through the liberation of both halves of humanity from the stultifying and distorting rigidity of functions imposed by the hierarchies of domination inherent in androcratic systems.”
